Apart from the light telescopic stock for the MP5 and the USW chassis for the CZ P-10 F + C which TFB just reported about, there are also some new interesting suppressors from Swiss B&T. There’s the Impuls-OLS, which B&T calls a significantly lighter suppressor for 9 mm pistols. There is also a Reduced Backpressure Suppressor (RBS) aimed at assault rifles and machine guns in 5.56 and 7.62 mm. And last but not least, they introduce the StarLite, a light hunting suppressor.
Let’s start with describing the Impuls-OLS, which was specially designed for military users and missions where every gram (or ounce) of weight makes a difference. The Impuls-OLS is the same length but still more than 110 grams lighter than the standard Impuls-IIA. The Impuls-OLS is a very good choice not only for military or police users but also for civilian users, and has been tested to be both reliable and effective with many different types of pistols.
As requested by customers, the Impuls-OLS is available with many different thread sizes and therefore can be used with basically every standard pistol.
IMPULS-OLS – PISTOL SUPPRESSOR 9 x 19 mm
The Impuls-OLS™ pistol suppressor in 9 x 19 mm has been designed for minimum weight and excellent noise reduction.
The Impuls-OLS™ is the same length but still more than 110 grams lighter than the
standard Impuls-IIA™. The Impuls-OLS™ is a very good choice not only for military or police users but also for civilian users.
It has been tested to be both reliable and effective with many different types of
pistols. According to customer requests, the Impuls-OLS is available with many different thread sizes and therefore can be used with basically every standard pistol.
The Impuls-OLS™ is available in a standard length and in a compact version.
RBS – REDUCED BACKPRESSURE SUPPRESSOR in 5.56 mm (.223) / 7.62 mm (.308)
When using a suppressor, combustion gases from the ejection port in the face of the operator can be disturbing or even dangerous. The new RBS suppressor (Reduced Backpressure
Suppressor) significantly reduces the amount of gas from the ejection window.
As sensible as the use of silencers is in police and military applications, the escape of the retained gases from the ejection port is irritating for the shooter and has disadvantages in combat.
B&T successfully solved this problem as early as 2013 when designing the MP9 suppressor with the invention of the low-pressure expansion chamber. Since the gases ejected backwards when firing a large numbers of shots with assault rifles or machine guns make it diffi cult for the shooter to breathe, B&T has now transferred the principle of the low-pressure expansion chamber to suppressor’s assault rifles and machine guns.
The RBS suppressor signifi cantly reduces the combustion gases ejected from the ejection window. The low-pressure expansion chamber only minimally increases the size and weight of the silencer compared to conventional silencers, while muzzle fl ash and noise are suppressed similarly well as with the proven B&T suppressors.
The RBS is available in calibers 5.56 (.223) and 7.62 (.308) each in a direct mountable version for various muzzle threads as well as with a newly developed quick release fitting all NATO A2 muzzle flash hiders.
B&T Starlite Suppressor
The new Starlite™ suppressor is an offshoot of the proven design and technology that B&T uses for the well-known ROTEX® and Impuls-IIA™ suppressors, which are popular with many NATO armies. The Starlite™ provides excellent sound reduction in a very compact envelope but is lighter because of the alloy used in the tube. This is possible because private shooter is not expected to be shooting large quantities ammunition over a very short period of time, e.g. full-auto fire.
The Starlite™ suppressors are highly adaptable. They are downwards compatible, meaning the user can easily use them on different rifles within its particular and smaller calibers group. As those rifles usually have a different thread, B&T offers adapters in 10 different thread sizes (metric and imperial). Instead of buying two suppressors, the user can mount his suppressor on different rifles in a matter of seconds by just changing the inexpensive thread adapter.
With a length of only 180 mm and a diameter of only 50 mm the StarLite is available in three caliber groups: ≤ 6.2 mm / .243“, ≤ 7.62 mm / .308“ and ≤ 9.3 mm / .366“. The suppression is up to 34 dB.
Please note that as far as we are aware at this time, these suppressors are only available in the European market.
