[SHOT Show 2021] Streamlight TLR-7 sub

Until recently, not many subcompact carry guns came equipped with rails. Because of this, some people either carried a larger handgun, or opted to have no light. However, with the introduction of pistols like the SIG P365, Springfield Armory Hellcat, and Glock 43X and 48 MOS models, that has changed. A need for subcompact lights has emerged and Streamlight has answered. Introducing the TLR-7 sub.

Designed to enhance visibility and targeting capability in home defense and tactical situations, the ultra-compact and lightweight TLR-7 sub weapon light fits on most railed subcompact pistols.

TLR-7 sub

The TLR-7 sub uses a clamp system that is designed to fit railed subcompact handguns. It needs no tools to quickly attach or detach, without the need to put your hand in front of the muzzle. The body is made from anodized machined aircraft aluminum. It is IPX7 waterproof to 1m for 30 minutes. The length is 2.51” (6.38 cm), and it weighs 2.39 oz. (67.8g).

To activate the light, the user engages either side of the ambidextrous rear switch. Doing so activates the 500 lumen, 5,000 candella LED. The TLR-7 sub produces a 141m beam. A user-enabled strobe feature is also present. Using one included CR123A lithium battery, run time is 1.5 hours. Twisting the collar around the lens activates and deactivates a safe mode, which prevents users from accidentally turning the light on, and will save batteries.

The light will be available for Glock 43X/48 MOS, SIG P365 and P365XL, and for 1913 short models (with keys for the Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Subcompact, Beretta Px4 Storm Compact/Subcompact, Springfield Armory Xd-E, and Heckler & Koch Hk45 Subcompact handguns.)

If you want a light for your subcompact carry gun, this is an option to pay attention to. With an MSRP of $225.75, it undercuts offerings from some of the competition.
