SIG Sauer has announced the release of their new Match Elite 9mm pistol ammunition. As the name implies, these loads are designed for competition shooters. It is advertised to be soft shooting and low recoil ammunition making it easier for the competition shooters to make fast follow up shots.
The new Match Elite cartridges have nickel plated cases which are loaded with 147 grain jacketed hollow point bullets. The muzzle velocity of these projectiles is 860-900 fps depending on the barrel length of any particular weapon system. The average muzzle energy is 260 ft-lb. The company also states that these loads fit the power factor between 126 and 132, thus becoming legal for all USPSA competitions. Along with other Match Elite series of cartridges, these 9mm competition loads are also manufactured in SIG Sauer’s facility in Jacksonville, Arkansas.
The SIG Sauer press release quotes Max Michel, Jr., Captain of Team SIG, who said:
This is the most accurate competition load I have ever shot. The SIG SAUER Match Elite consistently delivers groupings of less than two inches at 25 yards versus four inches on average with other ammunition, making it the ideal choice for professional and everyday shooters who want to improve their performance.
Brad Criner, Senior Director, Brand Management and Business Development, SIG SAUER Ammunition, said the following about this new SIG ammunition offering:
SIG SAUER always strives to improve upon existing products and the new Match Elite pistol competition ammunition is another example of this. This load was developed by SIG ammunition engineers, working very closely with Max Michel and Lena Miculek, to be the ultimate pistol competition load. The reduced charge weight delivers lower felt recoil, giving shooters an edge from a speed and accuracy standpoint.
