Patrick Hayden with the Kentucky Gun Company takes a look at the newest compact carry option from Smith & Wesson, which adds a number of “EZ” features to the more standard Shield design.
The M&P 380 Shield EZ is engineered from the onset as an easy-to-use personal protection pistol in all of its aspects from “loading and carrying, to shooting and cleaning.”
The 8+1 single stack is compact, at 6.7-inches overall with an unloaded weight of 18.5-ounces, and is internal hammer-fired, which is a plus for those who aren’t fans of striker guns.
It also has lots of safety features including a grip safety, which is rare for U.S.-made polymer framed handguns and includes the option for a factory thumb safety as well.
Besides a tabletop look and some range time, Hayden compares the EZ side-by-side with one of its competitors, the Walther PK380.
