How To Wear And Use The Concealed Carry 4.0 IWB Holster

Using Your ShapeShift 4.0 Concealed Carry Holster

Today we’re going to talk about the ShapeShift 4.0 IWB holster. We’re going to show you how to wear it, where to wear it, how to make it fit comfortably and more.

What Are IWB Holsters?

The IWB holster is without question the most popular type for daily carry. It’s called that because it goes inside the waistband and against your body, where half the gun is concealed inside your pants.

At Alien Gear Holsters, we have the 3.5 Cloak Tuck which is available for over 700 models of firearms and our upgraded 4.0 ShapeShift holster, which is now available for over 80 of the most popular firearms.

Both are designed specifically to conceal in comfort with a hard shell and a soft neoprene backing. If we don’t have your model of firearm available for the 4.0, check out the 3.5. Odds are we’ll have your model there.

How To Wear An IWB Holster

Where you wear this holster depends on your body size. We recommend around 4:30, above your back pocket but you really can wear it wherever it feels comfortable and conceals properly. You want a spot that the gun handle can sit flat against your body.

If you’re a bigger guy it’s much easier to conceal on your side. You’ll find a looser-fitting shirt or a shirt with a pattern can help a lot with printing. You can also try concealing it deeper below the waistband by changing your ride height and cant, which can help when bending over.

You will need to fit this inside of your pants and as you can see the holster is not much wider than the firearm. You may need to size up if you wear your pants tight, but most people will find that they’re okay with the pants that they already have.

The easiest way to put this on is by loosening your pants, putting it in the front and swinging it around to where you want it. When it’s in place, grab your clips and attach them to your belt. Use the finger grip on the ledge right here to get some leverage.

They may feel tight, which preserves the shape of the clip. You can even tuck your shirt in between the clips and the holster. Consider that the size of your firearm will make a difference in how much you feel it.

Match Your IWB Holster To Your Gun

We make each holster base custom to your firearm size, so it’s as small as possible but consider that a large gun is going to make your holster a little more noticeable than a small gun.

If you’re looking for a holster that’s more comfortable consider one like this where the holster base disperses the weight evenly across your body. Be sure to adjust the retention by using the twist lock on the side of the holster in the retention unit and you’ll know when the holster is fully seated when you hear it click into place.

With every holster in the ShapeShift system the shell can quickly detach by using the twist lock. Follow the user guides included with every ShapeShift and you’ll have everything you need to shift to any expansion pack

Remember that with this and any holster you need to rely on instinct and muscle memory to get your clothing out of the way and access your gun without thinking about it. High-level thought processes don’t work well in high-stress situations, so train often.
