Say what you want about professional stippling jobs, but there is actual utility on top of craftsmanship in those tiny melted divots. Granted, some of the upgrades may get out of hand (I’m looking at you “accelerator cuts”) but many shooters do not care for the factory grip pattern on their polymer guns. The custom gun craftsmen from Wilson Combat recently added Glock enhancements to their steel guns and parts – acknowledging that stippling is cool, but at the same urging people to set down the soldering iron.
A few weeks back, Brandon emailed us with pictures of what he believed to be the first Gen5 Glock worked on by Wilson Combat. A glance at the price list shows the starburst stippling pattern coming in at a reasonable $139, whereas the Combat-Tuff finish at $350 seems a bit steep for my budget.
Even though I think the Gen5 Glock is close to perfect for my needs (go ahead, let your fanboy cries fly), all in all, I think this build is clean and functional. Take a look at the specifications and picture below and let us know your thoughts.
1. Wilson Combat Starburst stipple
2. Laser etched Wilson Combat logo on finger rests (both sides)
3. Wilson Combat double undercut trigger guard
4. Front slide serrations
5. Wilson Combat logo on top slide
I opted to keep the new GMB barrel and a stock trigger unit until I find the right options (for me).
The folks Wilson Combat were top notch with their customer service and quality (of course), and super excited about the first Gen5 they could tweak!
