Lights, holsters, action!
I’ve been an avid user of DeSantis Gunhide holsters for quite some time, primarily using their Tuck-This, Super Fly, and Pro-Stealth holsters for BUG (back-up gun) use. I’ve found their holsters to be well-made and able to stand up to pretty constant use, including in an LE or EDC capacity. With the prevalence of smaller lights and light/laser combos, more and more people are adding that capability to their EDC guns. DeSantis is recognizing this trend by focusing on expanding holster offerings that can accommodate lights and lasers.
New to their lineup are the following models:
- The “Speed-Lite”, a leather OWB holster appropriate for CCW with outer garments or as a practical rig for plainclothes or other LE duties in which one isn’t wearing a normal duty belt. The Speed-Lite line is similar to the Tac-Lite, except that it has no thumb-break retention strap. This model is currently only available for Glocks, but many more styles will come out soon.
- The “Light Bearing Raptor”, a Kydex high-ride holster for OWB use
- Light or laser bearing versions of their Slim-Tuk kydex holster series, including the very compact model shown here for a light-bearing Glock 43. This was my favorite new model. At least trying it out with a light-bearing blue gun, the example they showed me at SHOT seemed like a great way to carry a BUG with a light or laser added for extra capability. I like the concept of having a laser on a BUG since one might be using such a firearm in an injured or weak-hand state.
- The “Osprey” a leather holster that is convertible for OWB or IWB use and has a removable IWB strap
If any of these holsters seem like a good fit for your firearm/preferred style of carry, or for more information, please visit DeSantis.
